Work History

Tochigi Prefecture International Affairs Division Tochigi, Japan2009-2012

Interpreted Japanese-English and English-Japanese for governors and ambassadors from Japan and overseas.

Maintained international relationship between Tochigi and sister state Indiana through composing and translating official correspondence.

Organized and held interactive Japanese-language seminars on American culture for audiences of all ages for between ten and one thousand people.

Designed and managed prefectural intercultural and training programs, such as homestay visits, carnivals, penpal exchanges, English seminars, and J-E interpretation workshops.

Coordinated Tochigi's central role in the 2010 Indiana State Fair Bridges to Japan exhibit and secured a $10,000 grant from the US-Japan Foundation.

Contributed to disaster relief and rebuilding efforts following the Great East Japan Earthquake, appearing on local radio to provide foreigners with English information and later planning tours to promote Fukushima tourism.
